HisPromise Ministry – 7-Day Interactive Bible Study Guide

Day 1: Building a Christ-Centered Relationship

Main Verse: Matthew 7:24-27 – The Wise and Foolish Builders

NKJV (Full Passage):

24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Context & Study Notes:

This passage is part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7), where He emphasizes the importance of putting His teachings into practice. A house built on rock represents a life grounded in obedience to God’s Word, leading to stability and steadfastness, even when trials (“storms”) arise. Conversely, a life built on anything else (“sand”) leads to eventual collapse when faced with hardship.

Example: By prioritizing Bible study together and keeping Christ at the center of our relationship.

Example: The challenge of long-distance dating and committing to praying together.

Example: Setting aside weekly devotional time.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being our firm foundation. Teach us to continually put You at the center of our lives. When storms arise, help us stand strong on Your Word, and let our love reflect Your truth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Day 2: Love Defined by God

Main Verse: 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 – The Characteristics of Love

NKJV (Full Passage):

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”

Context & Study Notes:

These verses come from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. The church in Corinth struggled with divisions and misused spiritual gifts, so Paul highlighted the supreme importance of love. True godly love (Greek: agape) is selfless, patient, and enduring. It is the core virtue that should guide all actions and relationships among believers.

Example: Patience when making decisions about the future.

Example: Respond gently when frustrated instead of reacting in anger.

Example: Setting boundaries, staying pure, and praying for each other’s spiritual growth.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, teach us to love each other with the same sacrificial love You show us. Mold our hearts to be patient, kind, and humble, and help us grow in unity as we prepare our hearts for a future that honors You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 3: Trusting God’s Plan for Our Future

Main Verse: Jeremiah 29:11 – God’s Plans for Our Lives

NKJV (Full Passage):

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Context & Study Notes:

Jeremiah wrote this to encourage the Jewish exiles in Babylon, assuring them that despite their current hardships, God’s plan would ultimately bring them hope and restoration. Though addressed to Israel, it reveals God’s heart and sovereignty for all believers. It affirms that God has a bigger purpose and a hopeful future for His people, even when circumstances seem dire.

Example: We prayed about a major decision and saw God open the perfect door at the right time.

Example: We remind each other of God’s past faithfulness and pray for peace.

Example: Regularly sharing encouragement from Scripture and uplifting one another in prayer.

Closing Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your perfect plans and unwavering promises. Teach us to rely on Your guidance and not our own understanding. Keep our hearts sensitive to Your leading, and give us patience in times of waiting. When doubt arises, help us remember all the ways You’ve provided in the past. May our trust in You deepen as we walk together toward the future You’ve prepared. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 4: Overcoming Temptations Together

Main Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:13 – God’s Faithfulness in Temptation

NKJV (Full Passage):

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Context & Study Notes:

In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul addresses various moral and ethical issues among believers. This verse assures us that temptations are not unique to us alone, and God always provides the ability to stand firm or find a way out. It is a reminder that while temptation is inevitable, God’s faithfulness and grace are more than sufficient to help us overcome it.

Example: Impatience or comparing our relationship to others.

Example: Setting healthy boundaries and reminding each other gently of our commitments.

Example: Praying immediately when tempted and seeking godly counsel.

Closing Prayer:

Father God, thank You for always providing a way out of temptation. Help us to recognize the enemy’s lies and run to You for strength and victory. Give us wisdom and discernment to set boundaries that keep us on the path of righteousness. Unite us in our desire to honor You in every aspect of our relationship. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 5: Growing in Faith Together

Main Verse: Colossians 2:6-7 – Rooted and Built Up in Christ

NKJV (Full Passage):

6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

Context & Study Notes:

Writing to the believers in Colossae, Paul encourages them to live according to Christ’s teaching and not be swayed by false doctrines. Being “rooted and built up” conveys the idea of spiritual growth and maturity, suggesting that Christians should continually deepen their relationship with Jesus, standing firm and thankful in their faith.

Example: Setting personal prayer goals, joining Bible study groups, and fasting periodically.

Example: Memorizing Scripture together or having a weekly worship session.

Example: Praying for wisdom before big decisions, consulting Scripture for guidance.

Closing Prayer:

Gracious Lord, thank You for giving us Your Word as our foundation. Help us to remain rooted in Your truth and grow stronger in our faith as we face life’s challenges. May our relationship reflect the depth of our devotion to You, and may we be a testimony of Your transformative power. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.

Day 6: Serving Others as a Team

Main Verse: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 – The Power of Partnership

NKJV (Full Passage):

9 Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.”

Context & Study Notes:

Attributed to King Solomon, Ecclesiastes explores the meaning of life and highlights the benefits of companionship. Working together creates synergy, and having a partner provides mutual support in difficult times. In a relationship, serving and supporting each other fosters unity, reflects God’s love, and extends His goodness to those around you.

Example: One may excel at hospitality, the other at teaching or organization.

Example: Volunteering together at church or in community outreach programs.

Example: Shared experiences of compassion strengthen our bond and remind us of Christ’s love.

Closing Prayer:

Almighty God, thank You for placing in our hearts a desire to serve. Show us how to use our talents and resources for Your glory. Unite us as we serve side by side, reflecting Your love in practical ways. May our teamwork bring hope to others and draw us closer to each other and to You. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Day 7: Thanksgiving and Future Vision

Main Verse: Psalm 100:4-5 – Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving

NKJV (Full Passage):

4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”

Context & Study Notes:

Psalm 100 is a short but powerful psalm of thanksgiving and praise. It calls worshipers to approach God with joyful gratitude, acknowledging His enduring goodness, mercy, and truth. Cultivating a heart of gratitude in a relationship strengthens spiritual focus and helps believers remain thankful in all seasons.

Example: Growth in understanding, answered prayers, or the gift of companionship.

Example: Envisioning marriage and a family founded on biblical principles, serving in ministry together.

Example: Keeping a gratitude journal or regularly recounting testimonies of God’s faithfulness.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of thanksgiving. We praise You for every lesson learned and every blessing received during this week. Fill us with hope for the future, and guide our steps according to Your will. May our relationship continually glorify You as we move forward in faith and love. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
